About Keuka Lake School
Keuka Lake School (KLS) is a preschool for children with disabilities or developmental delays, as well as for children without disabilities from birth to five years of age. The program serves children in an integrated setting.
The school offers a variety of service options, including special education and therapy in family homes and at the school. Full- and half-day center-based programs are offered. Our services include the initial evaluation, special education, occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech therapy, psychology, nursing, and social work. These services are offered during the regular school year plus a six-week summer program.
The Keuka Lake School is approved by the New York State Education Department (pre-school) and the Department of Health (early intervention).
Early Help Makes a Difference
Some children develop faster than others. Normally, children catch up with each other at some point; however, there are children who need extra assistance to catch up with their peers. Early help can make a difference.
There may be other concerns you have about your child's development. Your child may need help if they:
seem very limp or very stiff when picked up
do not react to sudden sounds or voices by three months
do not make sounds by three months
do not follow moving objects with eyes by three months
do not raise their head when lying on stomach by three months
do not laugh or smile or "babble" by six months
do not sit unassisted by 10 months
do not walk unassisted by 18 months
cannot repeat spoken words by 18 months
