Family Support Services

Family Support Services (FSS) are ancillary services offered to individuals with developmental disabilities and their families, so the individual may continue living independently in the community. Family Support Services are offered in the forms of Reimbursement and Transportation.

The Reimbursement service is designed to assist families in providing care for a family member with developmental disabilities residing in their home. Family Support Services assist families in preventing premature or inappropriate out of home placement, maintaining the family unit, and maximizing the potential of the family member needing care.

The Transportation service helps to increase opportunities for families to choose service providers and utilize resources which they choose. This program fulfills the transportation needs of families to ensure individual health and leisure needs are met.

To be eligible for Family Support Services, an individual must have a developmental disability and reside in the community, at the home of a biological or adoptive relative.
