At Keuka Lake School, staff offer ancillary services that aid in a child’s development.
The School’s Speech Therapy Department assists children from birth to five years old at all levels of speech-language development. Services are provided at Keuka Lake School, the child’s home, and other off-site locations.
A speech program is customized to each child’s specific needs. Therapists help children understand language, express their wants, needs, and feelings, and increase the clarity of their speech. These skills are practiced in a variety of settings throughout the school day and at home. Services take place in individual sessions, small groups, and during classroom push-in sessions.
Occupational Therapy (OT) services are offered to children who are not developing motor skill milestones at the appropriate ages. Occupational Therapists evaluate and address self-care skills, fine motor skills, feeding skills, sensory processing and regulation, as well as a variety of other areas that impact a child’s independence and functioning.
This service is provided by Licensed Occupational Therapists and Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants. Sessions are tailored to meet each child’s needs and goals according to a child’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP). Children from birth to age three are served in the child’s home. Children aged three to five are served at Keuka Lake School.
Physical Therapy (PT) focuses on evaluation and treatment of children with gross motor limitations. Therapeutic interventions address muscle strength, range of motion, postural control, motor planning and safety, and motor delays. These interventions help a child access their environment independently and safely.
Physical Therapy services are provided by Licensed Physical Therapists.
